This Week's Action Items
#1: 90+ DAYS TO WIN MIDTERMS
Our voter registration efforts are continuing in Talbot and in other Eastern Shore communities.
We will be at the Caroline County Summerfest in Denton for two days:
Friday, Aug. 17, 5-10 pm
Saturday, Aug. 18, 2-9 pm
This will be a great opportunity to expand our efforts beyond Talbot County, and the event will be attended by many young people who it is essential we register.
Please email David King at email@example.com if you can help, and when.
#2: DONATE TO TALBOT RISING
Please consider making a contribution to Talbot Rising to help fund our work registering and educating votes in the 2018 elections. Virtually all of our efforts in the next few months will be on crucial midterm elections at the state, county and national levels. You can learn more by going to www.talbotrising.org.
#3: CALL REP. HARRIS ON HEALTHCARE
While the House is in recess, the Trump administration is busy at work undermining the access to affordable healthcare.
They are cutting subsidies to cover lower-income people and sabotaging the health care exchanges with skinny plans that are complicated and don't cover much. Call Harris' office to demand he save our healthcare: DC: 202-225-5311; Kent Island: 410-643-5425.

ACTIVISTS HIT THE STREETS FOR BEN JEALOUS CAMPAIGN
About 5,000 activists did on-the street voter outreach this past weekend for the Ben Jealous campaign for governor.
The Washington Post says that the Maryland Democratic Party launched its first major foray after the June primary election that set up Jealous to run against Gov. Larry Hogan. They also tried to educate voters about local candidates in state and county races.
From the Post:
Going door-to-door in Kensington with running mate Susan W. Turnbull in the afternoon, Jealous told voters on doorsteps that he wanted to “invest more upfront” in schools, health care and the environment. He also said Maryland needed a Democratic governor to appoint judges and to oversee redistricting after the 2020 census.
