This Week's Action Items
#1: RALLY FOR GUARANTEED HEALTHCARE
Progressive Maryland is launching a statewide Campaign for Guaranteed Healthcare. They are holding a rally Wednesday from 11 am - 2 pm at Rep. Andy Harris' Salisbury office. Please attend if you can! Show up at 100 East Main St.
#2: LAST CHANCE FOR TALBOT RISING SURVEY
We recently sent out a survey to the entire membership asking what priorities and issues should drive our agenda. Please help shape our future by answering the survey, which deals with issues, strategy, and asks for suggestions. The cutoff date is June 20. Your answers will help light the way ahead. To take the anonymous survey, click HERE.
#3: STOP THE SENATE'S STEALTH HEALTH BILL
The Senate is taking a page from the House of Representatives and is working in secret to fashion a repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Don't let them get away with it. The Congressional Budget Office gave the House bill terrible marks, saying it would cause 23 million people to lose health coverage. But you can help derail the Senate's action. Call your senators and urge them to halt all action in the Senate until the bill is killed. Indivisible has an action plan to help guide your lobbying. And the Campaign for Guaranteed Healthcare is calling for a week of action in the Senate from June 24-July 1.
JULY 8 - TALBOT RISING GENERAL MEETING
We will hold a general membership meeting at the Third Haven Meeting House in Easton, planning from 10 am to noon. We will discuss the results of our online survey of members and plans for future action. More details to come.
JULY 15 - ANNAPOLIS RALLY FOR HEALTHCARE
More info is available from the sponsoring group. Search @MarchonMD on Facebook.
JULY 22 - MARCH FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION
Details: 9 am - 4 pm, Washington, DC.
Organizers of this march aim to advance a vision of public schools as a place for learning and critical thinking, where children discover their passions and roles as citizens.

TAKE THE POINT FOR OUTREACH EFFORTS
In the interest of spreading the word about upcoming informational forums and other events that Talbot Rising is planning, the newly re-formed Outreach Group thought it would be helpful to have a list of point people who belong to various community groups such as faith communities, churches and civic, community and political organizations. Whenever something is planned, the Outreach Group would contact the point people who would then spread the word through their respective communities. For instance, Sheryl Southwick would inform members of Trinity Cathedral by asking the office staff to include the info in their newsletter. This will also help us have an idea of how many groups we are reaching.
If you would be willing to be a point person for a group, send your name, email address and the name of the organization that you are involved with to Harvey Zendt at Hzendt@yahoo.com
WE NEED YOUR SHOES FOR HEALTH PROTEST!
Kent and Queen Anne Counties' Indivisible group is planning an art installation to protest the American Health Care Act. They need 900 pairs of shoes to represent the number of Kent County citizens who will lose their healthcare under the AHCA. The event is planned for July 6, 7 pm, Fountain Park, Chestertown, MD.
If you have shoes you can donate, please leave on the porch of 113 North Hanson Street, Easton, MD anytime through next Thursday, June 29. Also consider attending the event. Any questions, contact Heather Harvey,
HARRIS HOLDING TELE-TOWN HALL TUESDAY
Rep. Andy Harris is dodging another real Town Hall with his constituents, instead setting up a tele-Town Hall for the Eastern Shore. The session will take place at 5:30 pm Tuesday, June 20. It's no substitute for face-to-face questioning. But you can still call in and express your opposition to his votes on health care, financial rollback of rules, and more. Sign up in advance at https://vekeo.com/andyharrismd.
SUPPORT OUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Join us for a Postcard Party after the general membership meeting on July 8 at the Meeting House: We’ll provide the postcards, postage, and refreshments. You bring your passion for public education!
We’ll be asking our local, state, and national politicians to support our kids and invest in our nation’s future by providing a high-quality education regardless of zip code.
WE NEED A WEBMASTER
If you have tech skills, we need your help. Talbot Rising wants volunteers to help develop and maintain a website to highlight our activities and recruit new members. If you are interested, please send an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
